Restorative yoga is a “yin” style of practice, featuring passive and supported poses with props, to provide a completely safe environment for total relaxation. The more your body is supported in the poses the deeper the sense of relaxation. Relaxation is a state in which there is no movement, no effort, and the brain is quiet.
A restorative yoga sequence typically involves only six to eight poses, held for 5 minutes or more, including light twists, seated forward folds, and gentle backbends. The practice is meditative, almost no alignment cues, "let go and let gravity do the job", eases the effects of anxiety and work.
The class features gentle assists.
