History of Pilates

Joseph H. Pilates, a German athlete, developed a form of exercises in the 1920's, from his own knowledge and mastering of box, gymnastic, yoga and martial arts. 


Originally termed CONTROLOGY, Pilates exercises encompass over 500 controlled, precise movements performed on a floor mat or special apparatus (machine), designed to stretch and strengthen muscles without adding bulk.


Joseph H. Pilates created a unique form of exercising that everyone can benefit from and continues to be ever evolving in the fitness world.


Today Pilates is being used as foundation training for dancers, athletes and many rehabilitative programs.
