Yoga Therapy for Chronic Illness in Arlington, MA
Living with a chronic illness means managing a body that changes from week to week — and I know this from the inside, because ankylosing spondylitis is what brought me to this work in the first place.
Why I Do This Work
My own diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis led me first to Pilates, then to yoga, and eventually to training as a yoga therapist. Everything I teach has been tested on a body that doesn't always cooperate, and that shapes how I work with you.
Conditions I Work With
Autoimmune conditions including ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and Hashimoto's thyroiditis, alongside chronic fatigue and other long-term conditions that fluctuate. You don't need a tidy diagnosis to benefit from this work.
Working With Fluctuation
Some weeks you'll have energy and some weeks you won't, and a practice that only works on good days isn't a practice. We build something with several versions — a full session, a short one, and a version for the days when lying down is all that's available.
Meditation and Yoga Nidra
Alongside movement, I'll explain what yoga nidra is and why it works on the nervous system, and give you selected recordings to practice at home between sessions.
