Yoga Therapy for Chronic Pain in Arlington, MA
When pain has been present for months or years, it stops being only a tissue problem — the nervous system itself has learned the pattern, and that's where yoga therapy does its most useful work.
A Different Approach to Persistent Pain
Chronic pain rarely responds to pushing harder. We work instead with graded, tolerable movement, breath, and nervous system regulation, gradually widening what your body accepts without flaring. Progress is measured in what you can do in your week, not in how far you stretch.
Conditions I Work With
Persistent back and neck pain, osteoarthritis, sciatica, fibromyalgia-type pain, and pain that has outlasted an injury or a surgery. Many of the people I see have already tried physical therapy and want something that addresses the whole picture.
What Sessions Involve
Sessions are one-on-one at SPR Studio and combine Pilates and yoga therapy, drawing on my certifications in both. We build a short daily home practice, because with chronic pain, small and consistent beats occasional and ambitious.
Meditation and Yoga Nidra
Sessions also draw on meditation and yoga nidra. I'll explain how yoga nidra works on the nervous system and point you to selected recordings you can use at home between sessions.
